Unleashing the Fun: Activities for Your Dog at A Dog’s Way Inn

At A Dog’s Way Inn, we believe in offering more than just a place to stay for your furry friend; we provide a fun and enriching experience that keeps your dog engaged, healthy, and happy. Our unique amenities, such as our dock diving pool, agility training, and the open dog park, are designed to foster your dog’s physical health, confidence, and bonding with you. In this blog, we’ll explore some of the exciting activities that make A Dog’s Way Inn a standout destination for your pup.

Why Activity is Key for Your Dog’s Health and Happiness

Dogs are naturally active animals, and engaging in physical activities plays a significant role in their overall health. From keeping them physically fit to boosting mental stimulation, activities like agility training and playing in the dog park offer many benefits:

  • Physical Fitness: Regular exercise helps prevent obesity, strengthens muscles, and promotes cardiovascular health.
  • Mental Stimulation: Dogs need mental challenges to stay sharp. Training and problem-solving exercises, like those in our agility courses, help keep their minds active.
  • Socialization: Interacting with other dogs in a safe environment is vital for developing good social skills. Our dog park and daycare services allow for safe, supervised play with other dogs, improving your dog’s social confidence.

At A Dog’s Way Inn, we provide a variety of activities that cater to every dog’s energy level and interests.

1. Dock Diving: Making a Splash

One of the most exciting activities at A Dog’s Way Inn is our dock diving pool. Dock diving is a thrilling sport where dogs leap into the air and dive into a pool to retrieve a toy or just enjoy the splash. Not only is this sport great fun, but it also benefits your dog’s physical health, improving their strength, coordination, and agility.

We are proud to host North America Diving Dogs (NADD) events, a rapidly growing sport recognized by the American Kennel Club (AKC). Dock diving is available to dogs of all sizes, and the sport’s various divisions make it accessible to dogs of all breeds, including smaller dogs and senior pups. Whether your dog is already a seasoned diver or you’re looking to try the sport for the first time, we can help you get started.

Interested in giving dock diving a try? You can book a session or attend one of our upcoming events like the Inlet Flyers July Fly Qualifier or the August Awesomeness event. It’s a great way to bond with your dog and let them showcase their skills!

2. Agility Training: Boosting Confidence and Fitness

Our agility courses are a fantastic way for your dog to challenge themselves and build confidence. Agility training involves running through tunnels, jumping over hurdles, weaving poles, and more. These activities improve your dog’s coordination, speed, and focus, making them not only healthier but also more obedient.

At A Dog’s Way Inn, we offer personalized agility training sessions and also have an agility field available for rent. Whether you’re looking to introduce your dog to agility or refine their skills, our experienced trainers are here to help. Agility training fosters a strong bond between you and your dog as you work together to navigate the course. Plus, it’s an excellent way to exercise your dog’s body and mind in a safe, controlled environment.

3. Freeway Park: A Place to Play and Explore

Sometimes, your dog just needs space to run and play freely. Our Freeway Park is a 3-acre, safely fenced dog park where dogs can enjoy off-leash playtime in a supervised, fun environment. Whether your dog loves to chase after a ball, explore the surroundings, or simply relax with other dogs, Freeway Park is the perfect spot for them to socialize and burn off energy.

The park features:

  • A stocked fishing/swimming pond, perfect for dogs who enjoy the water.
  • A lighted footbridge with tables and chairs for pet parents to relax while watching their pups.
  • Plenty of shaded areas to keep your dog cool on warmer days.

Freeway Park is open every day, and dogs must be registered at A Dog’s Way Inn to visit. With a Day Pass or Punch Card, your dog can come and go as they please and enjoy the park’s amenities.

4. Bonding Time and Family-Friendly Environment

We understand that your dog is a beloved member of the family, and we want their experience to be enjoyable not just for them, but for you too. A Dog’s Way Inn is designed to be a family-friendly facility where both dogs and their owners feel comfortable. Our welcoming staff and safe, clean environment ensure that everyone has a good time.

As a pet parent, you’ll find that watching your dog participate in these activities can be just as rewarding as it is for them. Whether you’re cheering them on during dock diving or practicing agility together, these experiences help deepen the bond you share. Plus, our activities provide an opportunity for your dog to learn new skills and gain confidence in a fun, supportive setting.
